In 2013 I travelled to Ghana to work on shared and self directed community art development projects.
These photographs document the people I stayed with and learned from. I visited weaving villages and learned about Kente and Adinkra, I visited village schools (including one on the floating Nzulezo). I learned about the ambitions of young seamstresses, school children and artists, whose stories I took back to inner city schools in London. I saw the Cape Coast Carnival and was welcomed into the family home of an amazing mother and teacher whose extended family also took me to pay my respects of a chief in a country village.
Please see the Ghana page under Arts education to see what I did in return for the kindness of all these friends.
